Resistance thermometers, also called resistance temperature detectors (RTDs), are sensors used to quantify temperature.
The RTD sensor is made from a material whose resistance changes predictably with temperature. This makes it an accurate and stable sensor, which is relatively immune to electrical noise. RTD sensors are therefore well suited for measuring temperature in industrial environments, particularly around high voltage equipment. This anticipated change is utilized to decide temperature.
A RTD”S is a sensor that measures temperature by detecting changes in the resistance of a material. It is made up of a resistance element, a sheath, lead wires, and a termination or connection. The sheath protects the RTD from damage, and also provides support and stability to the lead wires.
